CFD Demonstrates use of Hurst and Mock Drunk driving crash

On Friday Apr 26, CFD participated in 2 events at Cheshire High School.

Assistant Chief Pechmann and Auxiliary member Priscilla Pechmann conducted an in school field trip for 2 engineering classes. They discussed thermodynamics, hydraulics and simple levers and machines with the class. The finally of the field trip was a demonstration of the Jaws of Life.

The 2nd event was the annual mock crash demonstration, to show the consequences of impaired driving. CFD was joined by Trinity ambulance personnel in there demonstration. Student volunteers played the victims in the scenario. The scenario depicted a 2 vehicle accident, in which there was an impaired driver that crashed into another vehicle. The impaired drivers passenger was "deceased" on scene, and the occupants of the other car needed to be cut out with the Jaws of Life. While the demonstration took place, Deputy Chief Ford narrated what was taking place.
