Following the recommendation of an internal Service Delivery Committee report in 2011, the Cheshire Fire Department recently converted an older Ford truck that was previously used by the Deputy Chief into a Customer Service Unit. The truck was modified for this purpose and outfitted by local shops. As a Customer Service Unit, Car 5 has the primary response purpose for handling incidents that are minor in nature and do not require the response of larger fire apparatus.

Car 5 will be used to respond to a myriad of incidents, including Carbon Monoxide alarms, fluid spills, water leaks, downed power lines, lock-outs, traffic control or any other type of incidents where it may be warranted.

Car 5 may also be used by the daily schedulued Duty Officer of Cheshire Fire Department, if needed.
