By Director of Training
November 13, 2015
On Thursday, November 12, 2015, representatives of the Cheshire Fire Department, along with members of the Waterbury and Wallingford Fire Departments assembled at the Bozzuto's Inc. on Industrial Avenue in Cheshire to assist Bozzuto's with an in-house ammonia drill.
The Bozzuto's facility on Industrial Avenue encompass over 720,000 square feet and includes separate areas for refrigerated and dry food storage. The refrigerated section of the facility uses a large quantity of anhydrous ammonia in order to operate their internal refrigeration system.
Fire personnel worked with Bozzuto's staff to monitor and assess their annual preparedness drill dealing with ammonia. This was an excellent learning experience for all those involved and good example of local agencies and Departments working together.
Units:
Cheshire Engine 6, Training Division
